Our Moroccan Sahara Tour from Fes allows you to explore both the city of Fes and the main Moroccan Sahara desert attractions. You will also be stopping by several Berber towns and villages along the way to fully experience the Moroccan Sahraoui Culture.
Our Moroccan Sahara Tour from Fes starts by traveling south to Merzouga via Midelt and Ifrane – “the Switzerland of Morocco”.
We will stop by Midelt city and the Ziz Valley. Our journey continues along the Berber villages to Erfoud, and Rissani, the foundation of the Alaouite dynasty. After we arrive in Merzouga, we check in to our desert Riad and enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner.
Our Moroccan Sahara Tour from Fes continues by exploring the Sahara desert area. We will visit the village of Khamlia – home of the Gnawa people – originally from Mali, Senegal, and Sudan, and learn about their music and lifestyle.
Later, we will meet Nomad families to explore their way of life. We will visit the city of Rissani -where we can visit a large local souk (an open market). After exploring Rissani, we drive back to Merzouga and in the afternoon to ride camels, guided by an experienced camel guide.
We will discover the highest dunes in Morocco. Our dinner will be served in a desert camp, and we will sleep in a tent in the Moroccan Sahara desert.
Our Merzouga camel guide will guide us to watch the sunrise in the desert. Then, we will ride camels back to the Merzouga. We will enjoy the beauty of the Erg Chebbi dunes during a camel trek. After a shower and breakfast in the Merzouga Riad, we’ll drive towards Rissani, Tinghir, and Todra gorges.
We may hike for an hour within the valley. After lunch in the gorge, we will continue to the Dades valley. Here, we will see amazing sand castles and the rock formations known as “monkey toes”. We stay overnight in the local Riad with dinner and breakfast.
On the last day of our Moroccan Sahara Tour from Fes, we head to Ouarzazate with a stop at Kalaat Mgouna – roses valley, where you may visit the cooperative for the roses, or purchase the rosewater. Then, we head to the Ait Benhaddou Kasbah.
It has been built by Thami El Glaoui. Our trip continues through the mountain Tizi n’Tichka Pass (at 2260 m) over the High Atlas Mountains. We will drive to Marrakech and that will be the end of our Moroccan Sahara Tour from Fes.
