On this 5-Day Moroccan Imperial Cities Tour from Tangier, allow us to show you around the Moroccan cities of your dreams! On this tour, you will not only visit the Imperial Cities of Morocco, but you will also stop by Chefchaouen (AKA The Blue gem of Morocco).
After we pick you up from Tangier’s port, Tangier’s airport, or your accommodation in Tangier, we will start our Moroccan Imperial Cities Tour from Tangier.
We will take you on a fascinating day tour of the city and the surrounding countryside. In Tangier, we will visit Cap Spartel, The Kasbah of Tangier, the American Legation, and the Museum of Tangier.
Then, we will be heading towards Chefchaouen. Upon arrival, we will explore the white and blue city of Chefchaouen and see its well-preserved Arab-Andalusia art and traditions.
Chaouen, or Chefchaouen as in the Berber language, is one of the most beautiful towns in the Rif Mountains. It is the last rampart before the Mediterranean and the Iberian Peninsula. A holy city with about twenty mosques and sanctuaries, it has a charming powder-blue house as well as the trademark dazzling lime-washed houses with blue doors.
An overnight stay will be in Chefchaouen.
On this Moroccan Imperial Cities Tour from Tangier, we will leave Chefchaouen to Fes via the Rif Mountains. Our first stop will be the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis. You will spend the morning exploring the 2,000-year-old ruins.
Then, we will continue to Meknes. The tour of Meknes includes Bab Mansour, Place El-Hedime, Moulay Ismail mosque, and Bab El Khamis.
At the end of the city tour, we will take you to your accommodation, where you will have dinner.
After breakfast, you will start a tour of Fes with a local tour guide. The city is considered to be the most complete medieval city in the Arab world. You will be transported back hundreds of years on this enthralling tour of Fes, Morocco’s spiritual and cultural core.
Fes was founded in the 8th century and is home to one of the world’s oldest universities. The tour will include Leather Tanneries, Medersa Attarine, Karaouine Mosque, Moulay Idriss II Shrine, Place Nejjarine, Royal palace doors, the Mellah (Jewish Quarter), and the Blue Gate of Boujloud.
During this walking tour of the old Medina of Fes, we will explore the narrow streets lined with fresh fruit, mounds of spices, intricately woven Berber carpets, and many other art objects of Morocco.
An overnight stay awaits you in Fes.
After breakfast, we head to Rabat, where we will have a guided tour that will include the Medina where the Hassan tower and mausoleum of Mohammed V are located. You will also visit the town across the river -Sale- that is quite charming along with the Chellah.
The Chellah was a settlement built around the nearby freshwater springs. These then evolved into the Phoenician, then the Roman city of Sale, before decaying into ruins, as Rabat moved towards the north.
The sultans of the Merenid dynasty chose to bury their dead here. Moreover, the Chellah is most well-known as a necropolis. Later, an overnight stay will be in Riad or a hotel.
After breakfast, we will head towards Casablanca. Upon arrival, we will start our Casablanca city tour, the tour of the economic capital of Morocco including the central market, the Habbous district, the Mohamed V Square, and mosque Hassan second.
At the end of the city tour drop off at your hotel or Casablanca’s airport Mohamed V to end our Moroccan Imperial Cities Tour from Tangier.
